I watched La La Land this afternoon. In Gold Class no less. And I have only one thing to say..
Give it all the awards. Every single one. Stat!
Let’s explore why shall we?
But beware, *spoilers* follow…
For starters, it’s a work of art that’s incredibly beautiful to behold.
Ace of Wands: A freakin’ artistic masterpiece
All the work of one writer and director, Damien Chazille.
King of Wands: What a talent!
The film charts the relationship between actress Mia and pianist Sebastian.
The Lovers: Nudge nudge, wink wink, say no more
The story traces the different stages of their relationship. It is literally divided up into chapters: Winter, Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter again.
Wheel of Fortune: The ups and downs. The cycle we go through in relationships.
It’s a REAL story, describing a credible relationship, with likeable but flawed protagonists. Do you know how unusual that is in the movies?
The Sun: Being real
Plus, there’s singing and dancing that doesn’t feel daggy and out-of-place. Again, do you know how unusual that is?
Six of Cups: Believing the illusion
Although, personally, I didn’t love the opening scene set on a motorway.
The Chariot: Peeps doing weird things on cars
But that was the only flaw I could find.
Have you seen La La Land? What did you think?
