Throwback Thursday is a chance to revisit some of my favorite posts. Seeing as how fans like myself are beginning to rev up for the next season of GoT I thought I’d take the opportunity to revisit where the TV show began by republishing the Tarot of Game of Thrones Season One.
The Moon: The White Walkers.
The series opens on The Others beyond the Wall. A mysterious race of beings who have yet to be fully explained. We do know that they like killing people and arranging them together in pretty shapes.
Ah wands peeps. So brave, so honourable, but a little bit slow. Seriously. I couldn’t have been the only viewer shaking my head in frustration when Ned informed Queen Cersei that he knew her children were the product of an incestuous relationship. Talk about treading dangerous ground.
Knight Of Wands: Jon Snow
Ned’s bastard son. A chip off the old block. A young man of honour, courage and idealism. He dedicates himself to serving his country at the Wall.
Queen Of Wands: Catelyn Stark.
Ned’s wife. Another Stark prone to impulsive decisions and a bit slow on the uptake. Taking Tyrion captive was not the smartest move on her part. Nor was trusting her old childhood friend Petyr Baelish.
The Lovers: Sansa Stark
Eldest Stark daughter. A romantic. Spends most of the series crushing on the king’s son. Boy, is she in for a rude awakening.
Page Of Wands: Arya Stark
Youngest Stark daughter. A wannabe knight-in-training. Future hero of the series.
King Of Pentacles: Robert Baratheon.
The king. A man eating, drinking and whoring his way to an early grave. Enjoying all the earthly riches at his disposal.
Queen Of Swords Reversed: Cersei Lannister
The queen. Put nothing past her. She will do anything to remain in power and spends her time plotting and planning to do just that. A nasty piece of work.
Knight of Swords: Jaime Lannister
Cersei’s twin brother and secret lover. Will do anything for his sister- even kill a child. Prone to the occasional rash act.
The Hermit + The Devil: Tyrion Lannister
Cersei’s younger brother. A dwarf who hides his wisdom behind a smokescreen of whoring and drinking.
Seven Of Swords + Three Of Swords: Petyr Baelish
Also known as Littlefinger. One of the more interesting characters. A total opportunist his heart was wounded at a young age by his unrequited love for Catelyn.
Two Of Pentacles: Lord Varys.
The spymaster who seems to be playing on both sides.
Queen Of Cups: Daenerys Targaryen.
One of the last surviving members of the royal family kicked out of Westeros years before. Beautiful. Desirable. She shows sensitivity towards her brutish husband and seems to have a mystical connection with dragons.
Knight Of Swords Reversed: Viserys Targaryen
Daenerys’ brother. Pretender to the throne of Westeros. Not a very pleasant fellow. His impatience to regain the throne makes him foolish. I’ll never forget the scene where he’s given a golden crown, although not in the way he expected. *Shivers*
