Knight Of Wands: I Saw Iron Man Last Night And Was Reminded Why I Love Robert Downey Junior Soooo Much!

Knight WandsI suspect the title of this post is going to be longer than the article I’m writing. To cut to the chase: I saw Iron Man last night and was reminded why I’ve always loved Robert Downey Junior soooo much as an actor. The guy is just so freakin’ funny. The impulsive nature of the characters he plays just adds to his charm. He’s another Knight Of Wands (I didn’t write about this card for months and now he’s popping up everywhere!) Dashing to the rescue, mouthing off, getting himself in and out of trouble. Inventive, impulsive, FUN!!!

I don’t even like big action movies and I loved Iron Man. Highly recommended!

Eight Of Pentacles: The Unrelenting Work Of Mother/Parenthood

I went around to a friend’s place tonight to cook dinner for her family. Her husband is away for three months and she is alone with two children under four with another on the way. Talk about doing the hard yards.

What I noticed most during out time together was the unrelenting nature of motherhood. The two little ones couldn’t leave her alone for five seconds. The three year old was “Why? Why? Why?” about everything we said and the two year old clung to her mother as if she was a life raft on stormy seas. My friend was desperate for someone to entertain her children for five minutes just so her head could clear. Doing the dishes or hanging out a load of washing while her children were read a story is her idea of nirvana.

It brought back a lot of memories.  Continue reading

Two Of Pentacles: Swapping One Thing For Another

2 PentsRandom Mathematical Fact: I was teaching my students how to turn fractions into decimals and back again today and it struck me how this situation is embodied in the Two Of Pentacles card. For those who have tried to block maths from their mind since they left high school a fraction looks like this 1/10 and in decimal notation it would be described like this 0.1. In maths language 1/10 = 0.1 = 1/10. They are interchangeable.

And it seems to me that describes a definite facet of the Two Of Pentacles card: The ability to swap one thing for another!

What do you think? Makes sense or not?

The Tarot Of Game Of Thrones Season One

So I made the fatal mistake of letting a boy in my local video shop (yes, some of us still hire them instead of downloading them off the internet) talk me into renting the first few episodes of the TV series ‘Game Of Thrones’. Now of course I’m hooked. Hooked and repulsed in equal measure because Lord Of The Rings it is not. The good guys don’t necessarily win. Justice doesn’t prevail.

But I’m enjoying the characters. The women are unexpectedly diverse and well-rounded. And even though I haven’t quite got to the end of season one I thought it would be fun to explore the Tarot of the leads.

The Tarot Of Processing Stuff

I’ve always thought that the Eight Of Pentacles represented processing stuff but then yesterday I felt very clear that I should use the Knight Of Swords Reversed to indicate my mental processing has slowed down. So today I thought I’d investigate the Tarot of processing stuff starting with this card…

Knight Swords
