My weekly email from Biddy Tarot has inspired me to look at the angels in Tarot. They are found on Life Lessons (aka Major Arcana) cards which are the most significant ones in the Tarot deck. Each is an archangel i.e. they are serious players in the angelic world, what they have to say is important. So if they turn up in a reading, pay attention!
Saturday Night Fight Club: Three Of Cups Vs Four Of Wands
There have been lots of special events at my house this week (hence my absence for the last few days) which has inspired me to revisit the difference between two Tarot cards that represent celebrations taking place: the Three Of Cups versus the Four Of Wands.
Ten Of Cups: Happy Families
Ten Of Cups: A man and woman wrap their arms around one another while children cavort happily at their feet. In the distance you can see a well-appointed home. The grass is green, water flows through the meadow and a rainbow in the sky promises a pot of gold.
This is the ultimate cups card. Cups are about feelings and you can feel the love oozing out of this picture. The Ten Of Cups represents a happy family, in whatever form it may take. Maybe it’s your immediate family or your work family or the family you’ve made with friends. Whatever type of family it may be, it’s a blessing in your life.
I feel the love in my classroom everyday, my grade is a happy family (ya know, most of the time.) Do you have a Ten Of Cups style family you are part of? Please share…

Judgement: The Twitter Troll Revolution
There’s been a great deal of hullabaloo on the net this week about Twitter trolls who target women. The controversy began when a British woman by the name of Caroline Criado-Perez successfully campaigned to put Jane Austen on the ten pound note. This is the first time a woman has been pictured on a British note EVER. Subsequently Continue reading
Six Of Wands: Winning!
I had another go at intermittent fasting today. You can tell that I’m keen to make this a regular part of my eating plan. As I said the science behind it is solid. And I drink a LOT of milky tea each day so I just want to give my body a break a couple of times a week. Also, I went clothes shopping last night and it was depressing being forced to buy size 14 instead of size 12 and large instead of medium. Not that I’m panicking about weight or anything but I do want to be healthy.
Instead of starting my fast after breakfast I timed it from my last cup of tea last night. I also had some green tea to help me through the day. I’ve always enjoyed drinking green tea at Asian restaurants but never found a brand I liked to drink at home before. Yesterday I brought one from a tea store I trust and the women who sold it to me said the key was not to pour boiling water onto the tea but to add some cold water to the pot first. And voila, for the first time ever I made drinkable green tea.
I didn’t make it to the 24 hour mark but I did hold out till 6 o’clock which is about 20 hours. And as far as I’m concerned that’s winning. I’m not a masochist or anything. It’s important to cherish the small victories in life, don’t you think? Have you had any recently?
Death: Tweeting A Loved One’s Passing
An American journalist by the name of Scott Simon sat by his dying mother’s bedside as she slowly passed away tweeting a blow-by-blow description of the experience.
Including:
‘I just realized: she once had to let me go into the big wide world. Now I have to let her go the same way.’
Paying The Price For Dancing With The Devil
The Emperor Reversed: Intermittent Fasting Failure
So. A lot of my friends are on the intermittent fasting diet and lookin’ mighty fine as a result. Intermittent fasting is where you eat little or nothing for one to two days a week. It’s also known as the Eat Stop Eat diet. The science behind it seems pretty solid. Our hunter-gatherer ancestors often went without food for extended periods of time. And it’s meant to be good for rebalancing your hormones which have a big impact on weight control.
Anyhoo, Continue reading
Five Of Wands: The Return Of Big Brother
Yeah yeah I know I shouldn’t but one of my guilty pleasures is watching the television show Big Brother. I find it fascinating. It’s like observing a science experiment. Seeing how people react when locked up in a cage together. Usually the producers choose the same demographic, i.e. good looking people in their 20s, and the kissing games and conversations about the opposite sex start to get old really quickly. But still, I watch.
Big Brother Australia 2013 started tonight and I was pleasantly surprised by Continue reading
