I haven’t written much about the Wheel Of Fortune. It’s one of those cards that seems blindingly obvious as it represents the ups and downs of life. You win Tattslotto, you get fired. You miss out on buying the house of your dreams, a better one comes up. Your child crashes the car, your child aces his exams. You get the good and the bad in life. No one is immune from disaster or unblessed in some way.

We’re having our fair share of family drama at the moment. My favourite astrologer Mystic Medusa says that the whole world is experiencing what she calls the Zap Zone, i.e. a period of upheaval and change, and that this can be felt on an individual level. And I’m like, well derr, I can see that. I’m not going to go into details, some things are too personal, but I thought in honour of the occasion that I’d suggest the following two cards as being representative of family drama:
It’s no co-incidence that famous people are called Stars. Just as The Star card represents sanctuary and healing, following your favourite Hollywood Stars has therapeutical benefits. Being a fan of a famous person helps you forget about your own problems, you can get lost in theirs instead. Reading a trashy magazine article about celebrities gives you a break from your own life. Going to a concert of a musician you love helps soothe your hurts. Following lifestyles of the rich and famous helps you create dreams for your own life that nourish the soul. Etc etc etc. You get the picture. The Star card really does represent Stars with a capital S amongst other things.
My eldest daughter started uni a couple of months back and she is not waving drowning right now, swimming in work assignments. She can hardly keep up. The part-time job she had has gone out the window. Attending lectures is a rare treat. Most of the time she’s just plain bunkered down in her dorm room working through task after task.

My dreaming life is still all about teaching. My day dreams. Even my night ones. Once I’ve worked out what concepts I need to teach in my classroom I spend hours researching lessons on the net, doodling down ideas in my work program and discussing plans with my co-workers, until I feel like I’ve hit on the right approach. Then I move onto the next topic. Last night I dreamt about a lesson coming up this week and realised in the dream I had crammed too much stuff in (as usual) and would need to change my lesson plan.
