The Vague Tax

I read a great article recently about the price we pay for our modern lifestyle. A woman wrote that in her state of permanent exhaustion she went to an ATM to withdraw $100 and accidentally forgot to collect the money out of the machine. She completed the transaction, put her card back in her wallet (phew!), placed her wallet in her bag and walked away. Of course, by the time she remembered ten minutes later and rushed back, the money was gone (What would you do if you found money in a machine, huh?)

Over the years she’s also left phones in taxis and wallets in cafes, let gift cards expire, and paid fees on direct debits that bounced because she didn’t update her credit card details. She calls it the Vague Tax. You can read the original article here: http://www.theage.com.au/money/saving/what-to-do-if-you-leave-your-money-on-the-atm-20160104-glyx9i.html

Maybe this one… Continue reading

Whilst watched, they freeze like a statue, but in the blink of an eye can be by your side, with hand outstretched.

I was feeling terror about something today. No biggie. A momentary flash. A realisation about a fear that’s been holding me back.

It made me wonder which Tarot card would be associated with this powerful and consuming emotion.

It has to be this one… Continue reading

Tarot’s Lesson on Addiction

unknown

I read an interesting article today that suggests the opposite of addiction is not sobriety. It’s connection. Apparently there’s a lot of research to back up this statement. It also makes sense. Emotional trauma and loss are often at the core of addiction.

You can find the article here: http://upliftconnect.com/opposite-addiction-connection/.

Of course, all addictions are not created equal. You can addicted to cigarettes, alcohol or drugs. You can also be addicted to coffee, or in my case, milk for forty years. Some cause more damage than others. But they all cause damage. We all want solutions.

Tarot actually has a lesson to teach about addiction, which goes something like this…
