The Tarot of The Anne Hathaway Les Mis Parody

I’ve found another top video clip for your entertainment. A Les Mis spoof in which a pseudo Anne Hathaway begs Academy Members not to forget her dream come Oscar night to the tune of Fantine’s big song in Les Miserables ‘I Dreamed A Dream’. You can find the link at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4yxsRRnvkE&feature=player_embedded.

Hmmmmm. Not sure which card to file this one under.

The Tarot Of Lance Armstrong’s Confession

I started this post several weeks ago when it was the watercooler story of the day. Then put it on ice when I went away on holiday. But Lance’s very qualified confession makes it the story that just keeps on giving. There seem to be so many levels to his deception. A few more were explored tonight on a cutting edge Australian current affairs program ‘Four Corners’.

So let’s have a look at the Tarot of Lance Armstrong’s confession.

The Moon In All Her Glory

The MoonWow. I think you’re going to be blown away by the link I’m sharing with you today. Just as I’ve been. It’s a real time video of the full moon a couple of days ago rising over the Mount Victoria Lookout in Wellington, New Zealand. The video, shot 2 k away on the other side of the city by astrophotographer Mark Gee, shows people gathering at the lookout as the moon comes up over the horizon.

The Temper Tantrum Cure

I read an article in the weekend newspaper today which got me thinking. It was written by a well-known columnist named Martin Flanagan. He spoke about how when his daughter was young he spent a lot of time with her walking in the bush. Not talking much, just sharing the silence, being together. Taking her outside was a great way to defuse the tension whenever she started to get narky. Now he uses this same trick on his grand-daughter. Taking her to the playground whenever she and her mum start to wind each other up works a treat. Turns her into a different kid. A quieter calmer one. The article was headed ‘Stepping Past The Threshold To The Infinity Within’.

His stories made me think of these two cards which follow one another in Life Lessons Tarot (the Major Arcana):

The Fool Reversed: How Not To YOLO!

The Fool R

Well it’s Friday afternoon here in Australia so it must be time to relax and have a laugh. Happily the Internet is running hot with brilliant news items today so for your viewing pleasure I’m providing the link to an awesome song I just stumbled across that’s going viral. It’s a hilarious parody of the hip acronym ‘YOLO’ which stands for ‘You Only Live Once’. Usually this means to take life by the balls. But as you’ll see the song turns YOLO on its head. It’s an anthem for the neurotic, the nervous and the strictly non-reckless.

You can find the video clip at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z5Otla5157c. I’ll try to post the link on my Facebook page as usual. I’m filing this one under The Fool Reversed.

Have a great weekend everyone!

The Two Sides Of Ace Cards

Until recently I thought I had the Ace cards all figured out. But then I realised that just like their playing card doppelgängers they have two sides. On the one hand they signify beginnings. And on the other they signify a bonus of some sort.

In playing cards the Ace can equal 1 or 11. In Tarot an Ace can symbolise the start of something or a great blessing being bestowed in some area of your life. Often they signify both at once i.e. The new thing coming into your life IS a great gift.

Let’s take them suit by suit.

Strength Reversed: The Accidental Revolutionary

Strength R

Hot off the Associated Press printing machines:

We can all relate to the hero with a secret double life. He is the stuff of legend: Batman, Spiderman, Indiana Jones, Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde. Well here comes another to add to that list.

A British professor has been covertly prowling the English countryside screwdriver in hand scrawling Continue reading

Praying With Tarot

The High Priestess

My post today is inspired by one written by Caitlin Matthews, goddess of prehistoric European civilisation, pagan lore and Tarot. If she was a Tarot card she’d definitely be the High Priestess. Like Rachel Pollack who brought this post to my attention, she has laid down tracks for others to follow.

In her post Caitlin writes about using Tarot cards to Continue reading

Justice Or Judgement: You Be The Judge!

This delightful ad recently appeared in a small Wyoming newspaper:

400 For Sale: Trucks

VERY mad mother selling 16 yr. old son’s 1993 Ford Ranger. Drove 3 mos. before son forgot to use his brain and got caught driving drunk. $3,500 OBO. Call meanest mother in Wyoming.

Is that the sound of parents around the world standing up and applauding I hear? We should all be so mean. Talk about teaching her son a lesson. And maybe saving his life into the bargain. Mean Mom is a trucker who probably knows from experience that alcohol and  wheels are a lethal combination. What makes her so special is that she isn’t afraid to take away her child’s toy (so to speak) when he’s done the wrong thing. This in the age of the helicopter parent makes her highly unusual.

There are two possible Tarot cards that might represent this situation.
