I finally got around to watching The Dark Knight Rises months after everyone else. Am not a big fan of movie violence so was a bit meh about the action but enjoyed the characters and the plot. Let’s have a look at the Tarot of this movie…

The Tarot Of Bingling Your Car
Yep. I had a bingle in my car this evening. First one ever in over 20 years of driving. Knock on wood. Guess I’m getting old. My sense of space isn’t what it used to be (kinda like my memory for spelling, lol.) It wasn’t a major accident. I just scrapped the side of my neighbour as I reversed out of a car space. But it got me thinking about the Tarot of bingling your car. You know, once I’d recovered from the shock and annoyance.
These two cards pretty much sum it up: Continue reading
Susan Sarandon: Tarot Woman
American actress Susan Sarandon was recently quoted in Elle magazine’s ‘Woman In Hollywood’ issue saying this:
“I think the struggle is to live an authentic life. Often, being comfortable and courting the illusion of safety cannot coexist with being authentically who you are.”
This is a great summation of the Tarot philosophy. More than anything Tarot encourages you to be true to yourself. (And when you’ve achieved that it encourages you to give back to the community.) The first official card in Life Lessons Tarot called The Magician signals your potential. The journey from there to The Sun card (number 19) is all about bringing that potential into the light. Birthing your true self. The danger along the way is that you’ll get stuck in The Devil experience, choosing comfort over authenticity, a nice house and accessories over living your dream.
Susan goes on to say the following:
Anytime I have drastically changed my life – which has happened a number of times and, I hope, will happen many more – it’s always been a mixture of terror and exhilaration and discovery. But I believe that being surprised and being somewhere that’s uncomfortable because it’s unknown is really one of the main rules to live by.”
This is a wonderful description of someone busting out of their Devil rut via the dynamic terrifying exhilarating energy of the next card along in Life Lessons Tarot, The Tower, which we’ve discussed before. If you refuse to let go of your crutches sooner or later life will do it for you by causing some kind of drama that forces change. But someone who’s in tune with their inner self will feel the need and make the changes for themselves. Aka Susan. And all power to her I say!
The Tarot Of The U.S. Election 2012
Everyone else is talking about this on the net so why shouldn’t I? Here’s my Tarot of the U.S. Election 2012: Continue reading
Death In Its Infinite Variety
My thoughts today are with the families and friends of those who have passed away during the once-in-a-lifetime weather event happening along the U.S. east coast. So I thought I’d explore different types of death Tarot style. Keeping in mind that the Death card doesn’t always mean someone is going to die. Far from it. But sometimes it does. Death during a freak event such as Hurricane Sandy would be represented as follows:
The Tarot Of Frankenstorm (Or Any Natural Disaster For That Matter)
The Tarot cards that refer to a disaster of the scale of Frankenstorm come near the end of Life Lessons Tarot (otherwise known as the Major Arcana.) They are the heavy-hitters of the Tarot pack. The sequence of events might be summed up as follows: Continue reading
The Lance Armstrong Story Tarot Style
Lance Armstrong is all over the news at the mo so I thought it’d be fun to tell his story Tarot style. You know, as it’s been reported. I’m not his judge and jury.
Seven of Swords: The Tactician. Otherwise known as The Sneaky Bastard.
Six of Wands: The Winner. In a reading this card would come up in the past position for Lance.
Wheel of Fortune: Experiencing ups and downs. And when you’ve been way way up you’re bound to fall way way down. But kudos to him for beating cancer and getting back on his bike. There is still something to admire there.
The Tower: The fall from grace. Breakdowns (that would be his team-mates). Revelation (that would be about him).
The Devil: An obvious choice. Living in denial. Making winning your god.
The Moon: Revealing hidden depths. And boy are they murky. Makes you want to take a long hot shower when you listen to his team mate’s stories.
The World: And this is all happening on a world stage.
Three of Swords: There is real grief being felt over Lance. People feel like they’ve been stabbed in the heart, and fair enough say I. He was our hero. Note how the swords in the card don’t drip blood i.e. The wound isn’t fresh. This is because the betrayal occurred in the past.
I feel a multi-million dollar tell-all confessional book contract coming on. But what would I know being the non-psychic Tarot reader that I am? Sometimes my intuition is spot on and other times I couldn’t hit the future with a ten foot pole if I tried.
Feel free to add your own suggestions re the Lance Armstrong story in the comments section below. Anyone?
Reading: The Tower + The Six Of Cups
Today we’re going to explore what The Tower + The Six of Cups signify when they turn up together in a reading. Let’s look first at the shades of meaning each card carries.
The Tower: Reaching breaking point. Having a breakthrough. A dramatic shift in circumstance. Being blasted out of your comfort zone. Being woken up. Destruction. Your foundations being shaken. Enlightenment.
The Six of Cups: First love. Living the fairytale. Living in a fantasy world. Being delusional. A person or event from the past.
Note: The order the cards appear in affects the message you’re being given.
The Tower + The Six of Cups:
Someone breaks up with you but you refuse to accept it.
Breaking up with someone and running home to your parents.
Experiencing a difficult life event which makes you delusional.
Receiving money from someone out of the blue and using it to fund your dream life.
The Six of Cups + The Tower:
Breaking up with your first love.
Meeting up with someone from your past which triggers a revelation about yourself or your past.
Being delusional which results in a serious incident.
A fantasy novel you’ve written gets published.
Any other suggestions?
Heartache vs Heartbreak
Yesterday I described the Five of Cups as being about heart-break and the Three of Swords as being about heart-ache. I want to explore today what I meant by that. Let’s have a look at them shall we?
Two Heads (Cards) Are Better Than One, Don’t You Think?
The more Tarot cards you pull out of the pack the more refined the advice will become. But warning warning danger danger don’t pull so many that the message gets lost altogether. Start slowly. Try two to begin with.
