Like the Three Of Cups, the Three of Pentacles is a card everyone is happy to see. The threes are a pretty jolly bunch all up apart from one blazing exception (swords, I’m looking at you!) Let’s examine this one a little more closely shall we?
My 16 yo daughter wanted some new shelves for her room. Instead of whining about it and hassling me to go shopping she…
(a) Researched shelves on the internet
(b) Located the product she was interested in
(c) Organised for me to take her shopping at a time convenient for us both
(d) Located the product immediately on the store’s customer computer system
(e) Lifted the items, which were quite heavy, off the shelves and later into the car without being asked
(f) Put them together herself without any assistance from moi. The boyfriend and the Allen key were all she required.
She’s a girl who gets things done with a minimum of fuss. Can’t wait to see what she achieves once she finishes high school. (Before you think I have it too cruisy her sister is the dead opposite. Makes a large fuss about the smallest things. Sometimes about nothing at all. Although thankfully she seems to be growing out of this tendency. Slowly, very very slowly.)
As my youngest was hauling her prize into the car at IKEA today she put me in mind of the Knight Of Pentacles. Action man! Or in her case, action woman! He is a man – or woman – who gets things done. The Knight Of Wands loves to start projects, the Knight Of Swords likes to plan them, the Knight Of Cups cares a great deal but it’s the Knight Of Pentacles who finishes them. He’s a handy man to have around. Not so much the lurver but great husband material.
Are you lucky enough to have someone in your life who’s a Knight Of Pentacles?
Two Of Pentacles: Holding two opposing belief systems at once.
I’m a science geek AND a Tarot fan. Most peeps would assume the two are incompatible. That if you believe you can be guided by invisible forces through Tarot cards there’s no way in the world you are a follower of the scientific method. My favorite geeky Facebook page ‘I F* Love Science’ ( I f* love I F* Love Science) scoffs at astrology and Tarot on a regular basis.
But I humbly beg to differ. Continue reading
The television show Downton Abbey encapsulates the ultimate Ten Of Pentacles experience. As Juliet Sharman-Burke explains in her description of this card in my favourite Tarot guide, ‘The Complete Book Of Tarot’ the Ten Of Pentacles refers to wealth accrued through the generations:
A richly-robed elderly gentleman, a grandfather perhaps, is seated in the foreground of the card. He is surrounded by family and his dogs stand loyally by his knee. His castle and estate look well established and a sense of material security is well illustrated by the ten pentacles floating through the air. This card symbolizes financial stability and firm foundations for home and family life. It suggests property acquired for the founding of new generations or traditions being passed down in the family with a feeling of continuity and security. A materially settled way of life is indicated.
Downton Abbey has it all. A big manor house in the country, masses of land, tons of servants, beautiful possessions, wealth, themes of marrying for money and position, jolly nice clothes not to mention plenty of shots of dogs running at their master’s heels. And standards. Standards are taken veeeery seriously. One must wear the correct coat to dinner mustn’t one. Whole story lines are written around minor breeches of etiquettes. It’s a lot of fun to watch.
For other Downton Abbey fans out there I have 2 entertaining sites to share.
One is a Downton Abbey episode written up as a Facebook home page. You can find that here: http://www.happyplace.com/21258/downton-abbey-facebook-recap-season-3-episode-6. Note: Don’t read it if you haven’t seen episode 6 in season 3 and hate spoilers.
The other is a video clip featuring characters from Downton Abbey edited to appear to be singing/speaking One Direction’s song ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ which you can find here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0TegWM9Z8Jc.
Both sites are also available on my Facebook page. Enjoy!
I thought we might have a look today at Tarot cards associated with medical issues. NOTE: Just because these cards turn up in a reading does NOT mean you have a medical condition. As I keep on saying, there are 50 shades of Tarot, 50 possible meanings (or thereabouts), for each card. Please take the following with a large grain of salt. Some I’m sure of. Others are educated guesses.
Page cards are the last bastion for me to crack on this blog. I struggled to write about the Ace cards because I was wrestling with a couple of different ideas about them. But it’s a whole other story with the Pages. I struggle to write about them because they are just so darn tootin’ hard to understand. But I’m gonna give it a go. (Deep breath)….
Like all the court cards Pages usually represent people. But not always. They’re complicated. Whilst kings and queens represent the mature and the experienced, Pages represent the young, the immature, or an aspect of your own personality that is beginning to blossom. If they symbolise an event it’s usually something new and undeveloped. And each Page card represents these things according to their suit as follows:
I’ve found another top video clip for your entertainment. A Les Mis spoof in which a pseudo Anne Hathaway begs Academy Members not to forget her dream come Oscar night to the tune of Fantine’s big song in Les Miserables ‘I Dreamed A Dream’. You can find the link at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4yxsRRnvkE&feature=player_embedded.
Hmmmmm. Not sure which card to file this one under.
I started this post several weeks ago when it was the watercooler story of the day. Then put it on ice when I went away on holiday. But Lance’s very qualified confession makes it the story that just keeps on giving. There seem to be so many levels to his deception. A few more were explored tonight on a cutting edge Australian current affairs program ‘Four Corners’.
So let’s have a look at the Tarot of Lance Armstrong’s confession.
