The Fool is the first card in the Life Lessons section of Tarot (aka the Major Arcana.) It represents our first actions and feelings. This card asks us to have trust. To trust that when we leap off the precipice we will not be crushed on rocks below but will land on our feet. To trust that everything will work out okay in the future.
It comes up again and again in life.
You have to trust that Continue reading
Just when you thought I might have given up on this blog altogether – Hello! I’ve been to hell but I’m back again. I’m thinking that this year I’d like to retrace our steps through Everyday Tarot (aka the Minor Arcana) one card at a time. Recap all the things we’ve discussed about theses cards. Circumstances permitting of course.
Does that sound like a good plan? Let me know what you think.
It’s the day after the election here in Australia and while most peeps are probably nursing a hangover after celebrating the win or the loss I thought I’d have a look at the Tarot Of Elections.
‘The scariest moment is always just before you start.’ Stephen King.
The Fool. Patron saint of all new enterprises. Publishing your first post on a blog. Starting at a new school. Getting ready to jump out of a plane. Psyching yourself up to ask a question or make a comment at a meeting. Feeling your dad let go of your bike after you’ve just given up your training wheels. Pulling out a credit card to place an order for a set of window shutters to the tune of $2000 (that was me yesterday and hell yeah it was scary, that’s a looooot of money).
But these things are exciting too, yeah?
Let’s explore the Tarot of Being Creative. Whether that be in the arts, in business or just in everyday life.
I’ve decided to dedicate Thursdays to re-running old posts. Maybe mashed up together or with new information thrown in. Because there are some Tarot stories that deserve to be retold. Because I want to refocus on central themes from time to time. Today is one of those occasions.
One of the reasons I love Tarot cards so much is that they’re deeply meaningful. In particular the group of cards commonly known as The Major Arcana. I refer to them as Life Lessons Tarot because together they read like a book about the core life experiences of a human being. For me this is Tarot’s Holy Book. I’ve divided it up into three volumes and a prologue.
Prologue: Continue reading
Well here’s a news flash that got my heart dancing. Forget about politics and shit…
A gigantic herd of dolphins has been spotted off the San Diego coastline. The phenomenon called a ‘super pod’ is about seven miles long and five miles wide. Which is a little bit mind blowing for someone like moi. I get excited when I see one dolphin in the wild let alone 100,000. It’s like Dolphin Convention 2013 out there. Apparently the super pod is is a rare but noted event which takes place at sporadic intervals for no apparent reason. Dolphin experts have just been shaking their heads with embarrassment when asked to please explain this behaviour.
You can view footage of the super pod taken from a tourist boat on my Facebook page or at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZbA421hIhs. The boat captain said he’s never seen anything like it. To quote: ‘They were coming from all directions, you could see them from as far as the eye could see. I’ve seen a lot of stuff out here. But this is the biggest I’ve ever seen, ever.’ When an old sea dog is gob-smacked it stands to reason that the rest of us should stand up and pay attention. Something truly miraculous has occurred. And when you watch the footage I’m sure you’ll agree. There’s something incredibly joyful about watching dolphins at play. Puts me in mind of this Tarot card…
I’ve found another top video clip for your entertainment. A Les Mis spoof in which a pseudo Anne Hathaway begs Academy Members not to forget her dream come Oscar night to the tune of Fantine’s big song in Les Miserables ‘I Dreamed A Dream’. You can find the link at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4yxsRRnvkE&feature=player_embedded.
Hmmmmm. Not sure which card to file this one under.
