Justice Reversed: Taking Advantage Of The System

Justice R

I received a depressing letter from my local council today. A developer whose housing plans for my suburb have been rejected umpteen times is appealing yet again to the state umpire. Each time the developer appeals the plans are changed to the minutest degree. But each time they appeal their opposition grows weaker. The enemy has deep pockets. They can afford to pay lawyers to write letters and stand up in court for them for years. While their opposition, made up of local families with ordinary jobs, runs out of money and steam. Yet we are the ones who actually live in the place. We are the ones who will be affected. But that’s the way the system works. It’s not a question of justice. The winners are the ones who can keep punching in court the longest. Who can take advantage of a justice system in which you seem to have an endless right to appeal. And where is the real justice in that?

Have you suffered at the hands of a Deep Pockets in court?

The Empress Reversed: Neglect

The Empress R

The Empress card is about nurturing and the opposite of nurturing is neglect. So it figures that neglect would be one of the meanings of The Empress Reversed. I feel like I’ve been neglecting you dear Teaclubbers by not writing more often on this blog. Yes, it’s easier for me to write posts in one hit. But this blog isn’t just about me. One of the things I’ve learnt about writing in the last year is that you need to write to suit your audience. Not yourself. So I’m going to try to blog more often. Maybe do shorter hits. I’m still tweaking this blog, working out how to make it zing. Please let me know what works best for you. Cheers!

Temperance: Forty Reasons It’s Great To Be Forty!

Temperance

A friend of mine turned the big 4-0 the other day. It’s a tricky number 40. At 20 you have your whole life ahead of you and 30 still seems full of possibilities no matter how much you’ve stuffed things up so far. But at 40 you feel like you need to have crossed a few things off your to-do list. At this point it’s good to remind yourself what you HAVE achieved. To take a step back and look how far you’ve come.

Adjusting to getting older is Temperance card territory. So I want to celebrate forty things that are great about being 40. Continue reading

The World: Being In ‘The Zone’

The World

…And I’m back. I dropped off the radar for a couple of weeks there. Shit happens. Sometimes it’s just plain everyday stuff keeping me from this blog. I read on a writer’s blog recently that you shouldn’t use your family and friends as an excuse not to write but I call b-s- on that. Relationships come first as far as I’m concerned. If peeps need me I’ll be there. Anyway, as I discussed recently I feel like I write better when my head is clear. And it doesn’t kill me as much. I don’t know how it works for other writers but for me it takes a lot of energy to enter the writing ‘zone’. Its much easier for me to write when I’m rested than try to get to that place after a long day at work.

The World is the Tarot card that represents being ‘in the zone’ whether you are writing, painting, running a business, parenting or surfing. It’s that place you get to after a lot of effort where everything flows easily. It’s the ultimate Tarot/life experience.

In what area of your life do you ever feel yourself in ‘the zone’?

Justice Reversed: When Life Is Plain Unfair

Justice R

I’ve borrowed this piece of Tarot wisdom. It came in the latest email from the Biddy Tarot website, my first go-to whenever I’m unsure about some aspect of Tarot. Biddy rocks! And funnily enough she comes from the same hometown as I do. Melbourne is a bit of a hotbed of Tarot card readers it seems. Probably because we need something to do during the cold weather when we’re forced to entertain ourselves inside for months on end. Or maybe we just happen to live on some ancient spiritual ley-line. Whatever, I thought this catchline was too good not to pass on. I also haven’t done many posts on Justice. So here goes, a mixture of my own and Biddy’s thoughts, on Justice Reversed…

The Empress: Feeling Fat

The Empress

I’m having a fat day. As a rule I don’t have them often and it doesn’t worry me too much as the feeling will pass, but it puts me in mind of The Empress card. She rules indulgence. Lazy days. Enjoying your favourite foods. Lying out in the sun for hours on end trolling through crap magazines or the internet on your iPhone. Sometimes she can go a bit too far.  Too much chocolate, not enough exercise (cough cough that could be me) and before you know it the scales have crept up a notch or two. Next thing The Emperor card will be popping up in your readings signaling that’s it time to get some self-discipline into your daily routine.

Do you ever have ‘feeling fat’ days?

The Emperor: Tests And Reports

The Emperor

It’s that time of year as a school teacher in Australia when you have to report on your students’ progress. My reports were due last Friday at 4pm and I was still tidying up sentences when the computer sever got turned off and I was forced to stop tweaking. Report writing is very much the domain of The Emperor. Let’s take a closer look at the process shall we…
