I’ve borrowed this piece of Tarot wisdom. It came in the latest email from the Biddy Tarot website, my first go-to whenever I’m unsure about some aspect of Tarot. Biddy rocks! And funnily enough she comes from the same hometown as I do. Melbourne is a bit of a hotbed of Tarot card readers it seems. Probably because we need something to do during the cold weather when we’re forced to entertain ourselves inside for months on end. Or maybe we just happen to live on some ancient spiritual ley-line. Whatever, I thought this catchline was too good not to pass on. I also haven’t done many posts on Justice. So here goes, a mixture of my own and Biddy’s thoughts, on Justice Reversed…
The Empress: Feeling Fat
I’m having a fat day. As a rule I don’t have them often and it doesn’t worry me too much as the feeling will pass, but it puts me in mind of The Empress card. She rules indulgence. Lazy days. Enjoying your favourite foods. Lying out in the sun for hours on end trolling through crap magazines or the internet on your iPhone. Sometimes she can go a bit too far. Too much chocolate, not enough exercise (cough cough that could be me) and before you know it the scales have crept up a notch or two. Next thing The Emperor card will be popping up in your readings signaling that’s it time to get some self-discipline into your daily routine.
Do you ever have ‘feeling fat’ days?
Four Of Swords: Sweet Sweet Sleep
I’ve just woken up from a 12 hour sleep coma, oh the bliss. I’m a big fan of the weekend lie in. I tend to run on empty during the week but I black out Saturday and Sunday mornings on my schedule as much as possible to enable me to stay in bed until I wake. And always feel better for it. Too many people seem to undervalue the therapeutical benefits of a good night’s sleep and don’t factor it into their busy lifestyles. They just grab what rest they can around the edges of their lives. Personally, I think this is a big mistake. Tiredness leads to poor decision making and a loss of enjoyment in life. Or worse. I’ve witnessed first hand how the inability to sleep can be a major factor in mental health issues.
The Four Of Swords card represents time out from the stresses of daily life and nothing gives you a mental pick-me-up quicker than a good night’s sleep. I highly recommend it.
What about you? Are you good at sleeping or terrible at it?

The Emperor: Tests And Reports
It’s that time of year as a school teacher in Australia when you have to report on your students’ progress. My reports were due last Friday at 4pm and I was still tidying up sentences when the computer sever got turned off and I was forced to stop tweaking. Report writing is very much the domain of The Emperor. Let’s take a closer look at the process shall we…
Tarot Lesson #305: You Need To Take Time Out To Recuperate After A Storm Has Passed Through Your Life
Long time, no talk. My bad of course. I’ve had a few things going on, as we all do from time to time, and then I needed to recover before I resurfaced again. I’m good at taking time out for myself for which I like to thank my mother. She has always done things just for herself even when her children were little. And I have followed suit as a parent. It’s the only way to stay sane.
Anyhoo, Continue reading
The Tarot Of Game Of Thrones Season Two
I’ve just been on a mad Game Of Thrones bender. Watched all season two in one long blissful night. So I thought I’d have a go at discussing the Tarot of GOT Season Two. I won’t be able to explain everything, the tapestry is too rich, but will try to pinpoint some of the major themes and characters.

The Tarot Of Mental Illness
I promised a lovely lady on my Facebook page ages ago that I’d republish all my medical Tarot blogs. Here’s one I found. Sorry it took so long…
I’ve had way more experience of mental health issues in the last few years than I ever wanted to so I thought it might be time to tackle the Tarot of Mental Illness in more depth. Unsurprisingly the cards involved include those in the last section of Life Lessons Tarot (aka the Major Arcana). Note: These cards might turn up reversed in a reading about mental illness.
